A Provider Who Gets It: Why Lived Experience Matters in Mental Health Care

When it comes to mental health care, having a provider who truly understands can make all the difference. Textbooks can teach a lot, but there’s something unique about working with someone who’s been through their own struggles and knows firsthand the challenges you face. At Well Balanced Women, I bring my own experiences into my work because I believe that real empathy is built from lived experience.

My journey hasn’t been easy, I’m open about that, and I also encourage my team to share their stories as well. From navigating postpartum depression to managing the weight of my daughter’s health struggles, I’ve faced my own mental health battles. And through it all, I’ve realized how important it is to have a provider who not only “gets it” but who can hold space without judgment. More to the point, I have also experienced how quickly challenges can intensify when you lack that sort of provider support.

My goal is to offer a safe, understanding environment where you don’t have to explain everything from scratch. I get what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, to doubt yourself, and to keep going even when things feel impossible. That’s why at Well Balanced Women, you’ll find a team that sees you as a whole person, not just a set of symptoms.

When you’re ready to reach out, know that you’ll be met with compassion and real support. I’m here to walk with you on this journey—because I’ve been there, too, and I know how powerful it is to have someone in your corner who truly understands.
