Frequently Asked Questions

What can a new patient expect at Well Balanced Women?

A new patient can expect a seamless process in scheduling a new patient appointment. This can be done via our scheduling link or contacting our office via email, phone, or even text! We are happy to answer any questions you have in the meantime. An intake appointment is scheduled for 60 minutes and can be either virtual or in person. We really take our time to get to know you, it's our favorite part!

What can an established patient expect at Well Balanced Women?

An established patient can expect as frequent as they need visits and quick communication from our office. An established patient will never run out of medication or feel like they are bothering us. Follow up appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes and can also be either virtual or in person. As you start to feel better, follow up appointments will be scheduled further apart with the option of being seen sooner if exacerbation of symptoms occur. We will always make sure your concerns are addressed and get some laughs in as well!

Why would I see a provider at Well Balanced Women instead of my OB-GYN or PCP?

This is a great question! Since we primarily manage psychiatric medications, we are specialists in figuring out what will work best for you. We have continuing education about medication in pregnancy and postpartum. We also have more time than traditional OB-GYN or PCP visits which allows us to really get to know our patients to best help them. The option of virtual visits is also extremely convenient for our busy patients!

How do I know which provider to schedule with at Well Balanced Women?

All of our providers are amazing and specialize in the same areas! Amanda currently has the most availability for new patients while Beth and Brittany have less. All three are in network with Aetna, Anthem BCBS, Cigna, Optum, Oscar, United Healthcare, and UMR. If we are not in network with your insurance, we can do self pay. Unfortunately we can not accept self pay for Medicare or Medicaid plans. Amy is not accepting new patients at this time.

What is integrative psychiatry?

Integrative psychiatry is an approach in between modern western medicine and functional medicine. We will look at lab results to decide if any supplements would be beneficial. We take into account all aspects of a patient's life that could be impacting mental health. We provide brief psychotherapy inside of our medication management appointments which is different from the therapy done with therapists. We will not stop until our patients feel better and are happy with their level of functioning! We have our own lived experiences that allow us to relate to our patients in a way other providers might not.

What medications can not be prescribed at Well Balanced Women?

Unfortunately, our providers at Well Balanced Women are unable to prescribe stimulant medication or controlled substances for sleep.
